QRS. Three little letters that could save your life. Lynnport Community Fire Company operates a Quick Response Service for our community. A QRS is basically a medical unit that is dispatched with the ambulance to provide rapid response to medical and rescue emergencies, saving precious minutes and saving lives. Lynnport’s trained and certified Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) First Responders and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) provide quick intervention in emergencies for our community. Our QRS never sleeps; be it four-thirty in the morning or three-o-clock in the afternoon, if you call 9-1-1 for a medical emergency, Lynnport is dispatched.

Our QRS truck is known as a squad-unit and can fit up to five trained medical responders and houses thousands of dollars of equipment. Some of the equipment includes an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), portable suction unit, a first-in kit containing oxygen, various rope rescue tools, and a NEW Hurst tool that allows us to rapidly extricate a victim in a car wreck. For more information on the truck and its tools visit our vehicles page.

Not only does our QRS respond to medical and rescue emergencies we also house the township’s ice rescue sled. In the winter months, Lynnport will be dispatched for ice rescues and we will respond with a specialized ice rescue sled, watertight rescue suits, hundreds of feet of rope, and other tools to help save your loved ones in the event of a winter emergency.

Lynnport operates its QRS within the scope of the PA DOH’s Basic Life Support guidelines and works in close cooperation with the Northwestern Ambulance Corps to ensure our responders deliver excellent patient care, stay up-to-date on training and certifications, and learn as much as they can about the latest advances in emergency medicine.
